April 08 Mrs. SparrowWell everyone....
Things have been busy. Always on the go! Just thought I would try my hand at this again... although I'm not sure that I will update as often as I used to. Way too much work :P
So, to try to ease myself back into the whole blog thing, thought I would start off with a story of my new friend...
If anyone has seen the movie Donnie Darko, you would get a visual of who Mrs. Sparrow is. If you haven't seen the movie... WATCH IT! Highly recommended!
Anyways, here is a quick story of 'my' Mrs. Sparrow.
A few weeks ago just before leaving for work, I was taking my dog Maximus out for a quick piddle when from around the corner the older 7' tall lady that lives behind me came shuffling around the corner... Max was done his business so I turned to head back, bring him upstairs and put him in his crate for the night while I went to work. As I was coming down the stairs, Mrs. Sparrow was standing right in my door way...
I had to almost literly push her out of the way to open my door to get out.
"Can I help you?" I asked.
"Yes, you can help me" she replied with a blank look on her face. "You can help me" she repeated in a whisper.
She then turned around and started mumbling a whole bunch of stuff that I couldn't comprehend.
"Are you ok?" I asked. She turned to me and gave me a look like someone out of Night Of The Living Dead. Really freaky :S
I asked her if she would like a cigarette, and proceeded to pull one out of my pack for her. I gave it to her and lit it. There was no response from her what so ever. Just that blank, empty look in her guys. I'm 6', and let me tell you, her height and persona where a bit intimidating...
Ok... I stood there for a minute wondering if I should walk her home or not, and decided to just leave her be... she got to my front door ok, I'm sure that she can make it back home. So I headed to my car.
I started up the ol chevy, and was in the process of putting in a CD, when I see a shadow appear at the passenger door. She was trying to open the door and get in :O
I got out... "I'm sorry, but I'm off to work, you can't come with me"
Nothing. Just a zombie look behind a puff of smoke.
How the hell did she get to my car so fast? Before she was doing the zombie shuffle, and now she is like flash gordon???
I got back into my car, and started to back out. She was shuffeling after me... what the hell???
End of that.
The next day, after I woke up in the afternoon, I went downstairs to the front door as I was expecting a package from the UPS guy. As I opened the door, a opened package of depends falls on my feet, then an avalanche of opened baby diaper bags follow behind it. The only thing is, the diaper bags were not filled with diapers like the depends, but with packages of cigarettes! Like, 6 bags of 200 cigarettes. Still sealed!
Ok....
I can't say for sure where this stuff came from... but the first thing that popped into my head was "Mrs. Sparrow".
Jump ahead one week.
I was out heading to the lawyers after work in the morning, and I see Mrs. Sparrow sitting on the bench by the medical center. She watches me with those same eyes as a week before, drive away down the street.
I came back from the lawyers about an hour later, only to find that Mrs. Sparrow is no longer sitting at the bench... instead she has taken up residence on my front porch. Sitting there smoking a cigarette. I say hello, with no reply back, and I go upstairs to grab Max, then head to Walmart. I come back from Walmart about an hour later, and she is still sitting on my front porch. I head upstairs (double checking the lock behind me) and continued to check out the window often to see if she was still there. About 2 hours passed, and I decided to head for bed and to leave her be.
I'm really not sure if it was her that left the presents for me in my door way as a thank you for giving her a cigarette or not. I've been trying to glance at her smokes to see if they look the same or not. She seems harmless... it's just the look in her eyes that is unsetteling.
I hope that I don't forget to lock the door one day and wake up with her in my place... or trying to get into my bed :O ![]() October 12 Business is almost underwayWell, things are starting to fall into place. Today is registration day for the business! Tony and I are heading to do our name search and business registration first thing this morning. We are also going to be getting a dedicated phone line hooked up at his place. If time permits, I'll see about heading to my bank to setup an account under the business name. Little hard to do lots during the day after just getting off grave shift... but I've managed before. Will have to get used to working longer hours if this is going to work.
The leg work for handing out the flyers will be a big chore... we are thinking of starting off with at least 2000 - 5000 flyers... that's alot of walking! Good time of year to be doing it though (as long as the rain holds off).
I think that we are going to do ok. It might take some time to get going, but we have an advantage over alot of places as we do house calls. A big bonus for alot of people who don't want to take apart their setup and bring it to some place. It also gives the customer an opportunity to view what we are doing and learn from it! Of course some major repairs may require that we take the PC to the 'office' for repairs, but in general alot of work can be done as is.
The way I see it is even if I invest say $100 and things dont work out... I'm not out that much. In all honesty though, I can't see why it wouldn't!?
Be sure to check out our temporary site here until we set up our own domain. There will be some information about computers, and blogs of the start-up of the business. October 06 15 Things to do to pass the time at WalmartSince I'm too lazy to actually write a blog these last few days, here is something to at least show that I'm still interested in the hits... 1.Get 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in peoples' carts when they aren't looking.
And last, but not least...
I will write that I've been busy with numerous things... Helping Suzy move into her new place was one. I'm also starting up a computer repair business with a friend... hope to have it up and running by the end of the month. If it does work out, it should generate some good revenue. Just from word of mouth I've done quite well, but I never charge enough. Usually because it is for friends from work. Currently I have 3 computers to work on this week alone! Charging $30 bucks an hour is also a great rate as the lowest place where I live charges $35 and hour.
So far the only name that we have come up with is "Two Techies"... any ideas anyone? Tony works in our I.T. department as a System Operator (Computer Technician), and I'm an Electronics Engineering Technician so the name fits... We'll see what happens.
![]() September 23 9 Things I hate...1) People who point at their wrist while asking for the time... I know where my watch is, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is? 2) People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually. 3) When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it? 4) When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? Gonna kick their asses! 5) When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor. 6) People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"... Didn't really give me a choice there did ya sunshine? 7) When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new. 8) When people say "life is short". What the hell??? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!!! What can you do that's longer? 9) When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here dumbass? ![]() September 22 I have returnedWell, it's been almost a week since I have returned from Amsterdam... guess it's time that I make a blog entry! What a blast I had (from what I remember)... I wasn't sober from the time I got off the plane in Holland, till the time I went back on it to come home! Since the whole week is just a blur of images in my head I'll just describe the best parts that I remember :P Free drinks at Martin's bar helped to keep me wasted... and the joints from Jerry's brother kept me high for most of the time I was there. My mornings usually started off by first going to the roof to smoke a joint, then headed down to the bar for a breakfast beer... it worked the first day so I decided to keep my morning routine going the whole time I was there. The square that we were in was pretty much party central... every night there was something going on, and loud music and beer flowed in every bar till the wee hours in the morning. Again, the beer and weed saved me by allowing me to pass out and disregard all the noise! We went to a small town called Volendam for their Karamis festival. The festival is basically 4 days of straight of drinking... was how Mardi Gras would be but in a much smaller place with the same amount of people. We showed up on day 4, and you could tell that there was some people that had been drinking non stop for the 4 days. Amsterdam was also quite the experience... I did find out that the blue lights mean that it's men (cross dressers) and red lights mean it's women... thank god someone told me and I didn't find out for myself :P Sorry, no pics of the women... the area is run by Hell's Angels and there is signs stating that you can't take any pictures. The live sex show at the Costa Rosa was the same... no pictures. We ended up in the second row from the front, drinking beer and watching couples have sex, a women 'smoking' a cigar (use your imagination) and a women that could write with a marker inserted between her legs! The pot was amazing... makes our stuff in Canada seem like smoking chives (although I've never done that). At the Bulldog, I was already getting stoned just by the second hand smoke before I even put my order in! I thought the stuff was great until my sister's boyfriend got me some stuff... WOW. He said that the THC content is so high that it is almost considered a hard drug!!! You can't roll just a straight weed joint as it wont burn, you have to mix it with tobacco (that's what we were smoking in front of the police station). On my last night in Holland, Laurie (girl who worked for Martin) had a little going away party for me in the bar... I was trying to take it easy but we ended up drinking until 3 in the morning... I had to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m.! Well, guess I couldn't leave the country sober! Still, one of the best parts of my trip was coming home, and when I exited the airport terminal I was greeted by the biggest smile and the nicest kiss from Suzy! Too bad it was daylight out in the parking lot...... Although I was sad to have to leave Holland, I was quite happy to be back to Suzy and my son! The day after I got back I picked up Kegan for 5 days... we went out for supper with Suzy and her daughter, went camping, and just hung out together and had some good quality time. Now back to work... ![]() August 31 Code-It 4Be sure to check out Jelly's Code-It 4 program! ![]() The only survival guide you will ever needAfter I went up and saw Kegan today before I leave on my trip, I went out to Suzy's place to help her with her computer. She also cooked us an excellent pasta and meat sauce dish for supper. Once I arrived, she handed me a present...
254 pages of everything you ever need to know about Zombies. Complete with a Outbreak Journal for recording suspicious events that could indicate a possible outbreak. The fields to fill out are: Date, Time, Location, Distance from me, Specifics and Action taken.
Here is a paragraph from page 11 so that you can get the feel on how the book reads. It was taken from the context of why Zombies don't decompose after being reanimated.
"A popular theory has recently circulated that attempts to explain the story of the ancient Egyptian mummy as one of the first examples of an embalmed zombie. The preservation techniques of the buried pharaoh allowed it to to function several thousand years after being entombed. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of ancient Egypt would find this story almost laughably untrue: The most important and complicated step in preparing a pharaoh for burial was the removal of the brain!"
Finally I will be able to survive my nightmares! If not it will make for some good bathroom reading! Thanks Suzy :D
* I found out that Max Brooks is actually Mel Brooks son and also a writer for Saturday Night LIve!
Oh, and here are some pics of Kegan in the lake with his pants on... ![]() August 26 You need help?I have been getting some comments lately from people asking for help on their space... if you want help you have to make your space public (Settings\Permissions and make sure the circle with Public is set) or send me an email...
